Solar for Nonprofits

Unlock savings for your nonprofit organization with solar

PowerOptions delivers solar solutions tailored to nonprofits and public entities across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Since 2011, we’ve completed over 70 projects totaling 80+ megawatts—making ours one of the largest nonprofit solar portfolios in the region. Our members are expected to save more than $125 million over 20 years.

By introducing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model to the market, we made it possible for nonprofits to benefit from tax-based incentives without upfront costs. Our consortium’s scale allows us to offer transparent pricing and strong customer protections.

What makes our solar program different?

Our solar energy program is designed around the needs of our members in MA, RI, and CT our solar program helps non-profits and public entities reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions, and meet sustainability goals. Here’s what’s included:

  • Zero upfront costs – We eliminate capital costs using Power Purchase Agreements, all available state and federal incentives reflected in your low price.
  • Expertise and guidance – Our developer works with you to identify the most advantageous solar opportunities for your nonprofit: carport, rooftop, ground-mount, or off-site.
  • Installation, ownership, operation, and maintenance of solar panels – Once the location is decided, our developer takes on all the responsibilities of your solar panels.
  • Pre-negotiated PPA  – Our pre-negotiated Power Purchase Agreement has a fixed per kWh price locked in for twenty years.
  • Easy Access for Public Entities – Public Entities in Massachusetts may participate without conducting individual procurement (MGL Chap. 164, Sec. 137).
