Remote Solar

Solar savings - without hosting an array

Many nonprofits and public institutions throughout New England simply do not have the room to host a solar array on-site. Through PowerOptions’ Remote Solar program, our Members don’t have to.

How Remote Solar Works

Participating in a remote solar project allows your organization to save on solar, without the need to build or host an array. When a remote solar project produces electricity and feeds it into the grid, it accrues credits that can be applied to energy costs. Through PowerOptions, your organization can buy these credits at a discount to reduce your electricity bills.

What makes Remote Solar different?

Our remote solar program is designed for Members who, for various reasons, cannot host solar facilities on-site but want to capture the sustainability and savings that solar power offers.

Zero Up-Front  Costs

No upfront cost or payments due until the credits start flowing and start saving you money.

No Maintenance Responsibilities

With Remote Solar, Members are not responsible for maintenance or operation responsibilities associated with keeping solar on-site.

Pre-Negotiated Contract

PowerOptions offers our Members pre-negotiated contracts for Remote Solar with some of the strongest protections in the industry.

Competitively Procured

Remote solar projects are selected through a competitive procurement process and Members are connected with the project best for their unique needs.

Who it's for

Small nonprofits

If your organization leases a space or shares facilities with other organizations, remote solar can help you realize savings and support renewable energy.

Short-term savings

Remote solar is an option for organizations pursuing short-term savings targets while developing a long-term clean energy plan.

Space-constrained Facilities

Remote solar can supplement or stand-in for on-site solar if your facility can't host a project large enough to meet your solar needs.
