PowerOptions Expands Clean Energy Expertise
With Addition of Macky McCleary to Board
Wednesday, July 14, 2021 – PowerOptions, the largest energy-buying consortium in New England, is pleased to announce the election of Macky McCleary to its Board of Directors. McCleary is a Director at Guidehouse, where he provides forward-thinking solutions in the areas of energy, sustainability, and infrastructure.
“As PowerOptions expands and develops more offerings to address our members’ sustainability needs, Macky McCleary brings an important perspective for our members at this critical time in clean energy technology and public policy development,” said Janet Gail Besser, PowerOptions Board Chair. “His creativity, vision, and expertise in innovation will help us to continue to move the organization forward.”
McCleary’s expertise includes smart cities, electric mobility, grid modernization, innovation, and strategy development and implementation. Trained as an architect at Yale University and a consultant at McKinsey & Co., McCleary works at the intersection of business and government. His extensive experience includes leadership roles at the Connecticut Department of Energy Environmental Protection, Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation, and Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities.
“I look forward to working with this dedicated, mission-driven team, to bring innovative clean energy solutions to nonprofits and the public sector,” said Macky McCleary. “At a time when these organizations are setting ever more challenging sustainability goals, PowerOptions is positioned to help them succeed.”
In addition to his industry knowledge, McCleary’s expertise in both policy and setting strategic direction for organizations will be valuable in PowerOptions’ continued evolution in meeting its members’ needs. In particular, the non-profit’s recent expansion into clean transportation is an area where his experience is particularly relevant. PowerOptions is currently piloting a Clean Transportation Program with the City of Arlington to create a new offering for its members, in addition to its electric vehicle charging equipment program launched in 2019.
“When looking at the evolving needs of our members over the next decade, Macky McCleary’s areas of expertise mirror those needs,” said PowerOptions CEO Heather Takle. “His deep expertise in vehicle electrification aligns with our new pilot clean transportation program.”
